Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Engineering & Service Delivery to lead the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of renewable energy solutions across a rapidly expanding portfolio.

This role combines technical leadership with operational excellence, ensuring high-quality project execution, optimal system performance, and exceptional service delivery. The successful candidate will build and lead high-performing engineering and field operations teams while ensuring all deployed systems are reliable, scalable, and commercially viable.

Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering Leadership

  • Lead the design and engineering of:
    • Solar PV systems (residential, commercial, industrial)

    • Hybrid energy solutions (solar, battery, grid integration)

    • Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) platforms

  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, policies, and best practices

  • Review and approve system designs, specifications, and technical documentation

2. Project Delivery & Execution

  • Oversee end-to-end project lifecycle:
    • Site assessments

    • System design

    • Procurement

    • Installation

    • Commissioning

  • Ensure delivery within timelines, budget, and quality standards

3. Operations & Maintenance (O&M)

  • Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs

  • Monitor system uptime, reliability, and performance

  • Deploy and manage remote monitoring (IoT-enabled systems)

4. Service Delivery & Field Operations

  • Build, scale, and manage nationwide installation and service teams

  • Define and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

  • Ensure rapid response and resolution of service issues and outages

5. Performance Management & Optimization

  • Track and report key KPIs:
    • System uptime

    • Energy output

    • Customer satisfaction

    • Fault resolution time

  • Drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency and performance

6. Vendor & Partner Management

  • Manage EPC contractors, OEMs, and suppliers

  • Negotiate technical agreements and service contracts

  • Ensure compliance with quality and performance standards

7. Technical Innovation

  • Drive adoption of advanced technologies:
    • Smart metering

    • Remote diagnostics

    • Battery optimization systems

  • Evaluate and implement emerging energy technologies

8. Strategic Contribution

  • Support business development through:
    • Technical proposals

    • Feasibility studies

    • Cost modeling and pricing inputs

9. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure adherence to:
    • Nigerian energy regulations

    • HSE standards

    • Environmental and sustainability requirements

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field

  • Master's degree (MBA or Engineering) is an advantage

Experience

  • Minimum of 15+ years in:
    • Renewable energy systems

    • Solar PV installation and maintenance

    • Power systems engineering

  • At least 5+ years in a senior leadership role

Technical Expertise

  • Solar PV system design (C&I and utility-scale)

  • Battery storage systems (Lithium-ion and hybrid)

  • Inverter technologies

  • Energy audits and load analysis

  • Grid-tied and off-grid systems

  • Diesel/solar hybrid solutions

Operational Experience

  • Delivery of large-scale, multi-site energy projects

  • Field service and operations management

  • Preventive maintenance systems

  • Asset lifecycle management
