Job Purpose

The Senior Business Development Personnel will lead and oversee the firms business development, client relationship management, and marketing initiatives. This role requires strong strategic, managerial, and communication skills to grow the firms visibility, strengthen client relationships, and expand its client base across practice groups. The successful candidate will manage the firms profile, marketing communications, media presence, and client engagement strategies in line with the firms vision.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Bachelors degree (B.Sc. or B.A.)

  • Optional/Preferred: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and Call to the Nigerian Bar (B.L.)

  • Specialized certifications in Marketing/Business Development (e.g., Diploma in Marketing Communication, Digital Marketing, or related certifications)

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years experience in Business Development, Marketing Communications, Digital Marketing, or related roles.

  • Mandatory: Proven experience in a law firm or professional services firm.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning & Implementation

  • Develop and execute the firms business development and client services strategy in line with firm objectives.

  • Identify and promote the firms unique selling points and differentiators.

  • Support practice groups and lawyers with tailored BD/marketing plans.

  • Track client relationships, industry trends, and potential business opportunities.

  • Drive client relationship management (CRM) processes and sector campaigns.

2. Budgeting

  • Prepare, manage, and monitor the annual BD and client services budget.

  • Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and internal teams to optimize spending.

3. Business Pitches & Proposals

  • Research, draft, and manage pitch documents and RFP responses.

  • Oversee production logistics, proposal delivery, and presentation materials.

  • Maintain updated deal sheets, lawyer resumes, and firm credentials.

4. Media & Public Relations

  • Lead PR campaigns and media communications (TV, radio, print, digital, social media).

  • Draft press releases, announcements, newsletters, blogs, and online content.

  • Manage branding assets, corporate identity, and advertising initiatives.

  • Oversee firms digital presence (website, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia, etc.).

  • Coordinate photoshoots, promotional materials, and media contracts.

5. Research, Tracking & Reporting

  • Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and client satisfaction surveys.

  • Track BD projects, campaigns, and social media analytics, reporting weekly to partners.

  • Maintain firm databases, directories, and referral listings.

  • Provide training and coaching for lawyers on BD strategies and client services.

  • Evaluate firm memberships and identify new opportunities for visibility.
