SIEL Human Solutions on behalf of our client is looking to hire a Full Time Estimator Manager.

Reporting to the Director of Sales and the General Manager, the Estimator Manager oversees the estimating department within Pro Metals manufacturing environment, ensuring accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates for fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly projects. This role leads the team responsible for interpreting drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to produce high-quality quotations that support profitability and operational efficiency.
If you have post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Engineering with 7+ years estimating experience in metal fabrication, machining, or industrial manufacturing and 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience then this role is for you! Successful candidates should have a strong understanding of fabrication processes, proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and 3D models (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.), and experience with ERP/MRP systems and estimating software.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor a team of estimators; provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations.
- Set departmental standards, workflows, and estimating best practices.
- Coordinate workload distribution and ensure timely completion of all estimates and proposals.
- Review engineering drawings, 3D models, specifications, RFQs, and project requirements to determine scope.
- Develop cost estimates for materials, fabrication processes, machining, welding, finishing, labor, and subcontracted services.
- Analyze historical data and manufacturing capabilities to ensure accurate cost models.
- Present finalized quotations to senior management or customers and support negotiation when needed.
- Maintain expert knowledge of metal fabrication processes (laser cutting, forming, machining, welding, assembly, coatings, etc.).
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain to ensure manufacturability and cost accuracy.
- Stay informed on material pricing, market trends, and new technologies that may impact cost estimates.
- Work with production teams to validate routing times and capacity constraints.
- Support project managers and sales teams with pricing strategies and technical clarifications.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors for quotations, lead times, and technical requirements.
- Implement estimating tools, software, and databases to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain standardized costing templates and processes.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs, optimize manufacturing methods, and improve margin performance.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience within a related field.
- 7+ years estimating experience in metal fabrication, machining, or industrial manufacturing.
- 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience (preferred).
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes: laser cutting, forming, welding, machining, assemblies, coatings, and tolerancing.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and 3D models (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.).
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and estimating software.
- Strong analytical and cost-modelling skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and decision-making abilities.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and time management.
