About the job Mechanical Technician
1.1 Job Scope Summary
The Mechanical Technician performs skilled mechanical work such as installing, adjusting, services, and repairs of various mechanical equipment and mechanical parts of electrical machinery utilized in the EfW (Energy from Waste) processing and electrical generating plants. Additionally, to provide support for all the overall facility operation and in maintaining the operation of the facility in compliance with established production schedules and plant output requirements.
1.2 Job Responsibilities
Performs a wide variety of mechanical repairs, PMs and fabrication, including pipefitting, rigging, assembly, and disassembly of all types of plant operation equipment, conveyors, piping, pump valves etc.
- Assist details of jobs assigned, develops, and use sketches, blueprints and complex drawings
- Consults with operations and technical groups on safety procedures and job hazards
- Dismantle, overhaul, reassembles, and adjusts, conveyers, turbine, generators, boilers, pumps, valves, and all other auxiliary equipment
- Inspect and lubricates all plant equipment routinely and makes necessary adjustments to ensure that equipment is operating efficiently
- Performs heavy lifting and rigging
- Uses torch and welding equipment to perform repair welding
- Mechanical repairs, piping, and valve packing
- Performs integrity tests on piping and plant equipment
- Works both inside and outside area of the plant
- Works at height (e.g. scaffolding and ladders)
- Maintains work areas in a clean and orderly manner

1.3 Educational/Professional Qualifications/Training Certifications
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent certifications
- HSE accredited training qualifications
1.4 Job Experience
- Must have at least 5 years as a Mechanic Technician
- Has abilities in studying blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances, and has knowledge of machine shop procedures, math, machinability of materials, and layout techniques.
- Advanced Skills in Coupling Alignments, Close Tolerance Fitting, Valves, and High-Pressure Steam Systems has demonstrated skills using precision measuring instruments, and performs troubleshooting and maintaining valves and high-pressure steam systems.
- Safety understands and uses lock-out procedures; is forklift trained and certified.
- Familiar with HSE standards, procedures, and requirements and control plant operations in a safe and efficient manner
- Pipefitting can operate pipe threading machine and milling machine.
- Basic Welding possesses current certification in structural steel welding.
- Oxy-Acetylene can cut and fabricate advanced fabrications
- Specialties: welder, machinist, pipe, and pump valve technician
