About the job Community Enrollment Officer
Project Maji is a Safe Water Enterprise (SWE) that seeks to make safe water accessible to hard-to-reach areas in sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. We develop and deploy fit-for-purpose solar-powered water solutions in the world’s most remote rural communities. Since 2015, Project Maji has empowered more than 300,000 people across Kenya, Ghana, and Uganda & served millions of liters of safe water via our 310+ solar-powered water access points. Project Maji’s operation in Ghana is mostly located in Ahafo, Central. Eastern and Volta regions and it's currently expanding its operations. Project Maji therefore seeks a Community Enrollment Officer in its Ghana office who will support its community-level activities, strengthen its local stakeholder engagement activities and influence water usage in communities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
First point of contact between communities and Project Maji during community identification as well as daily operations.
Assist with the identification process of new communities that require improved water infrastructure.
Engage community authorities and leaders to introduce and enroll them into a long-term partnership with Project Maji.
Engage and enroll individual households in communities to commit to use Project Maji solar kiosk water as their primary water source. Train, supervise and support community WASH committees and solar kiosk caretakers to provide excellent customer service and ensure customer satisfaction in their communities.
Collaborating with field technicians when there is an installation or repair work to ensure continuous functioning.
Report progress and challenges to the Project Director.
Coordinating local stakeholders in the communities and supporting the Project Director in organizing workshops in districts.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
A minimum of bachelor's degree in public health, social science and development studies
A minimum of two years in community work and knowledge in WASH
Must be a Ghanaian and able to speak Twi.
Demonstrate strong communication and coordination skills
Demonstrate good knowledge in Microsoft Office
Good English writing and speaking skills
Willingness to work in hard-to-reach communities
Confident and relational communicator; able to easily connect with community members in one-on-one, small group and large group meetings
Ability to ride a motorbike.
This position is a field-based position with 90% of daily work taking place in rural communities. (Located in Goaso)
