Position overview
As Talent Success Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success and growth of our talent placed with Tanas partner companies. You will both execute and lead, balancing hands-on engagement with our talent while building and scaling the Talent Success function. This role requires someone with strong coaching and people development skills, and a proactive approach to navigating people-related challenges. We are looking for someone who is excited to shape the future of talent success and retention at Tana.
Responsibilities
- Talent support: Provide ongoing support to talent through regular 1:1s, serving as their primary point of contact for guidance, troubleshooting challenges, and fostering professional growth. Help them navigate workplace dynamics, strengthen professional habits, and build confidence in their roles.
- Performance management: Ensure talent meet and exceed performance expectations by leveraging structured coaching and feedback. Identify and address skill gaps, provide tailored development plans, and support talent in developing both technical and professional competencies.
- Retention: Proactively manage talent engagement and retention by addressing challenges before they escalate. Guide conversations around performance expectations, career progression, and professional development, ensuring talent remains motivated and aligned with their long-term goals. Handle sensitive discussions, including performance reviews, with professionalism and care while working closely with client success teams to mitigate retention risks.
- Team leadership: Lead and manage the Talent Success Associate(s), ensuring the team delivers high-impact support while continuously improving Talent Success processes. Build and refine the Talent Success function, developing scalable strategies to enhance talent engagement, culture, and career outcomes.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in talent development, coaching, or people management, with a strong background in performance coaching and employee retention.
- Proven experience managing people, with the ability to handle complex HR scenarios and support individuals through career challenges. Experience managing technical teams is a plus.
- Strong coaching and mentorship skills, with a passion for developing early-career talent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and effectively support our talent in their professional growth.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a dynamic start-up environment.

This is a hybrid position based in Nairobi, Kenya.
