Background:
E-waste Producer Responsibility Organization (EPRON) is an industry led non-Governmental and not-for profit Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) set up implement the EPR and to coordinate the environmentally sound management of electronic waste (e-waste) in Nigeria.
Role Goal:
We seek to hire a Technical Manager to support the fulfillment of the aspiration of EPRONs technical unit, which is to apply circular economy principles to minimize e-waste and ensure the effective implementation of product take back and environmentally sound management of e-waste in Nigeria.
The technical unit is therefore responsible for developing and coordinating the successful implementation of the e-waste collection across the country and ensuring that the e-waste is recycled according to prescribed regulatory standards.
Job Description:
Handles general administrative and logistics support related to collection and recycling which includes:
- Oversee the development and implementation of programmes, initiatives and framework requisite for the successful implementation of EPRONs collection and recycling target as stipulated by the regulatory organizations.
- Coordinates all the activities in the downstream e-waste value-chain from which includes, formal and informal collection and environmentally sound management of electronic waste.
- Developing and coordinating recycling and collection plans to optimize service and efficiency
- Oversee and drive the development of technical projects implementation strategy, covering work plans and programs, to ensure alignment with organizational strategy, goals and objectives.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of EPRONs report to all relevant Stakeholders as per the requirements of each of the Stakeholders.
- Develops and implements a system for ensuring the effective monitoring of Collectors and recyclers activities to ensure they comply with existing standards.
- Oversee the regular review of all procedures, processes, and systems with focus on continuous improvement of collection and recycling processes.
- Developing and implementing initiatives to improve the standard of operation of value chain activities.
- Provides the Executive Secretary and Board with timely, complete and accurate report on all the collection and recycling activities across the country as at when due.
- Ensures invoices and payment for the downstream service providers are processed in a timely manner
- Works with the communication unit to educates the public especially the informal sector on e- waste, dangers of indiscriminate handling and the environmental advantages of recycling e-waste in an environmentally sound manner
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Secretary
Reporting line: Reports directly to the Executive Secretary
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in relevant field. An MSc will be an added advantage.
- Experience: 5-7year(s) experience in environmental management
