Job Purpose Statement

We are looking for a dynamic and talented Maintenance Technician who will ensure efficient operation and maintenance of the biochar plant by  managing and running equipment and processes to produce biochar, alongside performing both mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks, including inventory management of maintenance spares.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Operational Execution

Run daily biochar reactor and dryer operations, ensuring strict adherence to production schedules and operational procedures; maintain high levels of productivity and efficiency in biochar  production.

2. Maintenance

Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems; quickly address and resolve mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.

3. Inventory Management

Conduct weekly stock takes of maintenance spares; validate the availability and condition of parts; recommend replacements or order additional supplies as needed to maintain inventory levels.

4. Quality Assurance

Conduct operations and maintenance following internal and regulatory quality and performance standards; ensure the final product meets required specifications.

5. Documentation and Reporting

Maintain detailed records of operational data, maintenance activities, and resource usage; compile and submit reports to the operations manager regularly.

6. Innovation and Process Improvement

Initiate and contribute to continuous improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency and plant performance; suggest technological or procedural enhancements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum Diploma in Electrical and Electronics or Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical field; additional qualifications in mechanical maintenance are advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operational and maintenance roles within a manufacturing or plant environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive maintenance tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and or electrical systems; adept at problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven team player.
  • Should be based and ready to work in Kakamega (Mumias)
