About the Role: 

We are seeking a hands-on, creative, curious and results-driven Senior Associate Engineer to join our Commercial Team and steer BioMassters into its next growth phase. The Senior Associate Engineer will lead product development, pilots, project management and reporting and will champion the company's profitability and sustainability goals.

Job Details

Title: Senior Associate Engineer

Employment Type: Full-time, open end

Location: Kigali, with occasional travel across Rwanda

Start Date: As soon as possible

Reporting To: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Compensation: Commensurate with experience

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering Lead:

- Lead and manage built-in stove product development and support with pricing strategies on current and different stove designs;

- Lead and manage local built-in stove production, including improvement of sourcing of local materials and using local labor to assemble, produce and/or install stoves;

- Supervise and oversee the product development and testing of several stove accessories that could optimize the user experience;

- Oversee and lead prototype and demo stove implementations/projects;

- Liaise with the stove supplier and be the point of contact for any joint projects;

- Lead and supervise stove technician(s) and team of masons;

- Supervise stove and other asset management activities run by the warehouse manager and other staff;

- Identify and compare different hardware technology providers for various types of equipment (e.g. factory equipment, pre-processing equipment, testing equipment) that

BioMassters may want to procure;

- Design and lead the School Pilot project;

- Write and update SOPs related to stove processes;

Project Management:

- Manage the built-in stove projects: initiate management level strategy discussions, present updates, challenges, and successes to the team, propose solutions to problems within the project, liaise with project partners, ensuring all documentation is present, saved, and organized, project reporting;

- Manage the stove tracker and support the data team with accurate stock and inventory counts for stove parts and stoves as well as serial numbers of stoves in the system, i.e. asset tracking.

- Support the technical and logistical implementation of pellet burners, including liaising with experts on user experience and technical improvements,

- Support with troubleshooting of institutional or commercial pellet solutions;

- Write SOP and instruction manuals for new solutions as and when required;

- Source, test and implement new stove models and types for institutional and

commercial use;

Other:

- Initiate and execute changes in policies or processes across the value chain that could optimize business performance, improve customer experience or create external positive impacts;

- Conduct any other tasks that may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

Education & Experience

- Masters degree in Engineering or a related field (advanced degrees are a plus)

- 2+ years of proven experience in R&D, product development, and business

development

- Experience supervising people is a plus

- Experience with IT system integrations/transitions is a plus

- Experience in the clean cooking sector is a plus

- Familiarity with engineering fields such as renewable energy is an advantage
