Summary
The Facility Technician will be a key member of the facilities management team, responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and installations across a variety of building systems. This position requires technical expertise in building maintenance, electrical, and mechanical systems, as well as a focus on safety and security procedures.
Key Responsibilities
General Building Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building structures, fixtures, and finishes.
- Perform basic repairs including carpentry, painting, drywall repair, plumbing, and general building upkeep.
- Troubleshoot and address issues related to doors, windows, locks, and other hardware.
- Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of common areas, workshops, and storage rooms.
Electrical Services
- Perform basic electrical maintenance and repairs on lighting systems, outlets, switches, and minor equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and identify potential issues.
- Assist with the installation and testing of new electrical components.
- Adhere strictly to electrical safety codes and procedures.
Mechanical Services
- Conduct regular maintenance and inspections of HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning), including filter changes, minor repairs, and identifying more complex issues.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on plumbing fixtures, water lines, and drainage systems.
- Assist with the maintenance and operation of other building mechanical systems as needed.
Security
- Assist with maintaining security systems, such as access control, CCTV, and alarms.
- Perform routine testing and troubleshooting of security equipment.
- Respond to security-related incidents or emergencies as directed.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent. Technical diploma or vocational training in building maintenance, electrical, or mechanical trades strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a building maintenance or related technical role.
- Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of maintenance tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general handyman work.
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems and principles.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to safety regulations.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and crouch for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.
