ELECTRICAL LEAD JOB DESCRIPTION 

THIS POSITION REQUIRES TRAVEL UP TO 5 DAYS A WEEK WITHIN CALIFORNIA. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU'RE UNABLE TO TRAVEL - MEANING REPORT TO WORK ON A MONDAY AND PLAN ON BEING GONE UNTIL FRIDAY. YOU WOULD RETURN HOME EACH WEEKEND.

CLASSIFICATION/POSITION TYPE:

Non-Exempt/Full-Time/Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (40 Hours/Week) with occasional evening and weekend overtime.

REPORTS TO:

Operations Director and/or Superintendent

OVERVIEW:

Working under the direct supervision of the Operations Director and/or Superintendent, the Electrical Lead will be responsible for the construction, installation and modification of electrical appliances, systems, facilities, and related controls of varying design and/or complexity. The El The incumbent will be required to both take direction and work intuitively to support the completion of the company's goals and objectives in a professionally and culturally appropriate manner as per SEL Constructions policies and procedures while exceeding the expectations of our clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Electrical Lead position demands the ability to perform complex electrical troubleshooting, commissioning, and preventative maintenance in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repair of appliances, systems, facilities and related electrical controls and devices. The following duties (which are not limited to) will also be:

Troubleshooting and diagnosing faulty systems, devices, and parts by utilizing testing equipment and as well as hand tools to identify the sources of the malfunction to resolve the issue.

Proficiency in electrical competencies including identification of faults in AC/DC electrical systems and the capacity to troubleshoot and resolve them.

Analyzing electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects as well as the necessity for modification or maintenance and to ensure code compliance.

Verifying the compatibility and safety of electrical systems by testing the continuity of circuits within the wiring, equipment, and fixtures by utilizing testing devices to ensure the integrity and functionality of the entire system.

Providing continuous feedback to management regarding any potential hazards associated with the ongoing operation of equipment.

Performing job duties on ladders, scaffolding, and roofs to install, maintain or repair any electrical wiring, equipment and/or fixtures.

Completing physically demanding tasks such as (but not limited to): trench digging, underground installation of conduit, and long-term bending, crouching, pulling, lifting, etc.

Understanding plans, specifications, contracts, blueprints, safety documents and any other workplace or job site related documentation pertaining to each job.

Demonstrating efficient problem-solving skills while Identifying and mitigating safety hazards, code violations and other electrical issues

CORE COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 3 years experience in a commercial, industrial, or solar electrician journeyman capacity with thorough understanding of electrical equipment, high and low voltages, electrical theory, power generation, switchgear maintenance and paralleling procedures.

Possess strong working knowledge of job site safety with the ability to thoroughly evaluate job hazards and complete pre-work task planning with an emphasis on identifying electrical hazards and proper safety procedures.

Versed in all electrical test equipment to diagnose or troubleshoot all electrical systems and instruments.

Valid drivers license, clean driving record and reliable transportation

Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed to achieve objectives without supervision while coordinating tasks with others through personal initiative.

High School Diploma or Equivalent

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

This position will require frequent, mandatory short and long-distance travel. The ability to travel is mandatory.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

Verbally speak and/or listen.

Stand, walk, sit, crouch, kneel, stoop, crawl, climb and bend and lift and move up to 50lbs frequently and daily.

Use repetitive hand to finger movements.

Handle and/or feel tools, equipment, etc.

Up close vision, reading, color deciphering and identification.

Distant vision, reading, color deciphering and identification.

Peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
