Manager of Technical Accounting (Remote)

Seattle Search Group is partnering with a publicly traded, technology-driven organization seeking a Manager of Technical Accounting to join its growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional looking to expand their expertise in revenue recognition, technical accounting research, SEC reporting support, and public company accounting.

This position is fully remote within the United States and offers exposure to complex transactions, international operations, and executive-level visibility.

Position Overview

The Manager of Technical Accounting will play a key role in researching and documenting technical accounting matters, evaluating customer contracts under ASC 606, supporting SEC reporting activities, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and public company reporting requirements.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys solving complex accounting issues, drafting technical accounting memos, and working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Accounting

  • Research and analyze complex accounting matters under U.S. GAAP.
  • Prepare technical accounting memos and position papers for significant transactions.
  • Evaluate and implement new accounting standards and pronouncements.
  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Partner with leadership and external auditors on technical accounting matters.

Revenue Recognition (ASC 606)

  • Review customer contracts and amendments to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
  • Analyze performance obligations, variable consideration, contract modifications, and allocation methodologies.
  • Prepare revenue recognition analyses and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with legal, sales, operations, and finance teams during contract review processes.
  • Support and enhance internal controls related to revenue recognition.

SEC Reporting & Financial Reporting

  • Assist with quarterly and annual SEC reporting activities, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K.
  • Support preparation of financial statement footnotes and disclosures.
  • Prepare supporting schedules, tie-outs, and audit-ready workpapers.
  • Assist with earnings release support and non-GAAP reporting analyses.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Support SOX compliance and internal control documentation.
  • Participate in control testing and remediation efforts.
  • Assist external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 4-7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Public accounting experience with a Big 4 or large regional firm strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • Experience drafting technical accounting memos and researching U.S. GAAP.
  • Exposure to SEC reporting and public company environments.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Experience

  • Public company accounting and reporting experience.
  • Technology, software, aerospace, telecommunications, manufacturing, or other complex revenue environments.
  • Multi-entity and international accounting exposure.
  • Experience working with SOX controls and external auditors.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary approximately $140,000+-
