Engineering Lead - Financial Services Consulting

We are partnering with a rapidly expanding global consulting firm to identify an exceptional Engineering Lead to establish and lead a newly created team of software engineers and technology professionals in Hong Kong. This is a unique opportunity to shape the technological future within a dynamic financial services environment.

This role offers a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on execution. You will be instrumental in building cutting-edge internal tools leveraging proprietary data and AI for accelerated service delivery, as well as co-developing innovative client-facing solutions with domain experts. You will own the architectural vision, drive the adoption of best-in-class engineering practices, and oversee cloud infrastructure design and implementation. A key part of your mission will be to hire, train, and foster a cohesive, high-performing team across co-located and offshore resources.

What We're Looking For:

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in a high-growth environment.
• Strong proficiency in writing, reviewing, and delivering production-grade code, with a background in mentoring teams.
• Extensive expertise in software architecture, system design patterns, and modern engineering methodologies.
• Experience in selecting and recommending technology stacks, clearly articulating their architectural vision and business value.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate security and compliance aspects within regulated environments.
• Deep understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and modern engineering best practices.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product, design, and executive teams.
• Outstanding problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive insights from complex, unstructured information.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts.
• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Differentiating Qualifications (Highly Desired):

• Understanding of banking technology ecosystems, including APIs, big data, infrastructure, and developer operations.
• Familiarity with fintech trends, industry regulations, and emerging technologies in AI and machine learning.
• Hands-on expertise with infrastructure tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, and containerization.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Experience with Generative AI and its architecture (including open-source stacks, vector databases, and LLMs).
• Experience working with Chinese technology vendors (e.g., AliCloud).
• Fluency in Cantonese or Mandarin.
