Pastoral Care Officer (Yishun)
About the job Pastoral Care Officer (Yishun)
1. First Responding Duties
- Respond promptly to teacher requests for assistance involving students in distress or behavioural escalation
- Escort and remove students safely to designated pull-out or intervention areas
- Provide immediate triage and basic counselling support for students experiencing emotional or behavioural flare-ups
- Contact parents/guardians to provide initial updates on incidents
- Provide case inputs and updates to relevant stakeholders (SC, SENO, DM, SDT) for follow-up intervention planning
2. Befriending & Mentoring
- Build rapport with students identified as at-risk of re-offending or repeated behavioural incidents
- Provide ongoing mentoring and emotional support to encourage positive behaviour and engagement
- Support students' social-emotional development through consistent check-ins
3. Other Duties
- Manage and support student engagement activity hub
- Assist in after-school programmes and learning journeys for high-needs students
- Attend Case Management Team (CMT) meetings to stay updated on identified students (SwANs) and intervention plans
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Counselling, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children aged 6–12
- Strong ability to manage challenging behaviours calmly and professionally
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in school, youth work, or intervention/support settings preferred
Duration/Working hours:
5 months contract (Jul 2026 to Nov 2026)
Mondays to Fridays: 7:30am to 4.00pm, inclusive of 30 minutes lunch
break
Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public
holidays
