SDL is partnering with a dynamic and growing small retail business seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee our financial operations. This individual contributor role offers flexibility (full-time or part-time) and excellent work-life balance. It is a hybrid role that requires 2-3 days per week on site at the company's headquarters in the Danvers, MA area. You'll work directly with the owner and play a key role in the company's financial health.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations
  • Track and reconcile inventory levels and inventory-related transactions
  • Monitor and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) and gross margin trends
  • Coordinate with retail operations to ensure accurate inventory accounting
  • Assist in pricing and margin analysis to support profitability goals
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
  • Oversee general ledger maintenance and month-end close
  • Generate financial reports to support business decisions
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Support year-end tax preparation and work with external accountants
  • Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Retail experience is a plus
