Controller - Series B high-growth biotech

High-growth biotech company, currently gearing up for Series B fundraising, is looking for a strategic Controller to oversee Accounting & FP&A as well as build out processes as the company grows. 

Ideal candidate is a CPA, with prior life sciences / biotech experience, and experienced in building out policies and procedures to create a best-in-class accounting / finance department. 

Overseeing a small team, the Controller will be responsible for hiring an Accounting Manager & Senior Accountant to start, and will grow the team as needed. 

The Controller should have strong technical accounting experience, experience with M&A transactions, overseeing financial reporting and building out internal controls as well as excellent people management skills. 

Terrific office space near Waltham, MA, the Controller should be able to come into the office in the first few months to build relationships, and learn systems, but then can work any type of remote / hybrid schedule they desire. Generous compensation including base + equity + strong benefits. 

Requirements: 

• BS, Accounting 
• Experience in public accounting, Big Four or large regional ideally 
• 10 - 20 years progressive experience in biotech / life sciences, with experience at the Controllership level 
• experience supporting strategic finance / fundraising for early-stage, private-equity-backed high growth company 
• prior experience working with and preparing analysis and reporting for private equity firm, C-suite, Board of Directors, etc
• confident and capable leader of people, able to identify and develop top talent, excellent mentorship abilities
