Job brief

We are currently seeking a dedicated IT Officer to manage our end-to-end digital infrastructure, support critical ship-to-shore technology systems, and drive the development of tailored internal software applications crucial to our fleet's & office daily objectives. 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize IT infrastructure, local networks (LAN/WAN), server administration, and cybersecurity firewalls across both shore offices and the managed fleet.
  • Monitor and maximize fleet and office digital performance metrics, including corporate internet uptime, VSAT/satellite bandwidth, critical server health, and backup systems data integrity.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and crew to ensure seamless deployment of maritime software, corporate office applications, and hardware upgrades.
  • Perform routine internal IT inspections, workstation setup, and system health checks on shore networks and shipboard systems.
  • Act as the technical first responder and coordinator for office network issues, onboard communication blackouts, critical hardware failures, and network vulnerabilities.
  • Come up with insights by studying modern maritime technology trends, tracking upcoming regulations like IMO Cyber Risk Management mandates.
  • Identify and resolve technical glitches, network glitches, or IT-related vetting/audit deficiencies raised by Oil Majors or Flag States.
  • Align shipboard networks and data transmission logs with digital vetting standards, ensuring the fleet's IT systems are fully prepared for inspections.
  • Communicate with shore superintendents and shipboard crew intermittently to guide remote troubleshooting, manage software patch deployments, and resolve daily IT support tickets for both office and vessel personnel.
  • Employ best practices when performing user access provisioning, managing IT asset inventories, enforcing strict password protocols, and maintaining data privacy compliance across the company.
  • Develop, code, and customize internal software applications, macros, dashboards, or web portals to automate manual reporting workflows between ship and shore offices.
  • Test, deploy, and continuously upgrade database management systems and local software utilities to improve the performance and efficiency of both corporate and fleet operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer/Marine Electronics with a strong technical IT background
  • 2–3 years of demonstrated experience in IT Support, Network Administration.
  • Knowledgeable in maritime communication systems (VSAT, Inmarsat, Iridium), shipboard cyber security standards, and standard corporate Windows Server environments will be advantage.
  • Strong analytical, network configuration, and hands-on technical troubleshooting skills (both remote and office on-site)
  • Proficient in basic programming languages, scripting tools, database management and UI/UX testing.
