The purpose of this ub-based role is to ensure that the mineral resource of the deposit is effectively developed and understood in the context of the global resource strategy, ensure orebody knowledge and geophysical study is effectively used, and focus on high quality support service for geological project works and support that all support equipment and staff meets HSE requirements. The role needs to support Principal resource geology and exploration in ensuring timely geological input into key decisions, scheduling, production, and reconciliation.
Main Responsibilities:
- The purpose of this ub-based role is to ensure that the mineral resource update of the Oyu Tolgoi group deposits is effectively developed and understood ensuring orebody knowledge and geostatistical study is effectively completed and utilized
- The role needs to support area managers in ensuring timely geological inputs into grade estimation, geometallurgy and geotechnical parameters, production, and reconciliation.
- Assist in and provide support to following geology modelling and resource estimation activities as directed by:
- Complete revision and update of the 3D geological wireframe model and structural model based on new drillhole and mapping information.
- Assist in and collaborate with Oyu Tolgoi resource development team including mine planning staffs and contribute to development of effective life of mine (LOM) and intermediate mine plans.
- Assist in the resolution of reconciliation issues (i.e. modelled grade and recoveries versus actual grade and recoveries) by working closely with the geology, mining, and metallurgical teams.
- Assist and in collaborating with the broader mining and support services team to ensure the right technical and support input is provided to the project.
- Ensure that geoscientific data and documents are properly managed throughout the resource management pipeline and that the most up to date and complete version is stored in an accessible and secure infrastructure.
- To Prepare the estimation reports
- Participate all HSEC related activities by anticipating current and future risks, and setting objectives to ensure standards are met
- Contribute to the technical capability of the broader geosciences team by sharing expertise; building skills and technical capability in order to recognize and develop new opportunities.
- Assist in developments within the field of resource geology and utilizing this information to facilitate the on-going development of the programs to facilitate further development of the resource at Oyu Tolgoi
- Deliver within the work areas to achieve individual and organizational success through collaboration and understanding and embracing the values (Safety, Technical, Exchange, People, Success)
- Develop an understanding of the business drivers for a successful mining operation and how the effective management of geological information plays an integral role in such success.
Main Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in geology, geoscience or relevant major
- Minimum of 5 years of experience
- Membership of professional geological and mining societies such as SME, SEG, IMM, AusIMM
- Actively deliver work to plan and monitor progress against priorities, finding solutions to obstacles;
- Make informed business decisions based on the identification and analysis of key information and metrics
- Plan and monitor the efficient and effective use of resources to achieve team priorities; Use standard work practices to identify and deliver improved ways of working; For superintendents, the primary focus would be weekly to quarterly performance.
