The Opportunity
The Analyst Software Asset Management role is a technical and team member role for Rio Tintos SAM service within the Mongolia Business Services & Support Centre, forming the relationship between the IT service lines the Rio Tinto Procurement purchasing function, and software publishers and supporting a global user base you will:

Contract length: 1 year

What the role entails:
- Ensure compliance for our software asset agreements, through active management of entitlements and renewals process
- Investigate and interpret software usage to ensure adherence to terms and conditions, advise of legal obligations and raise risks and issues with required and recommended actions
- Provide subject matter expertise for licenses requirements, best practice procurement, and ongoing license lifecycle management
- Actively manage compliance risk and utilization, via ongoing assessment and reporting, often requiring the need to create an efficient and trustworthy repeatable process or re-evaluate existing processes
- Audit each software renewal and purchase request in line with our policies and procedures to ensure correct purchasing and entitlements
- Plan and monitor the software portfolio to ensure it is correctly maintained including vendor liaison and negotiation, contract creation, budget control, and reporting whilst recommending improved purchasing or usage solutions
- Actively participate in the identification of optimization in Software agreements with the Business Partners
- Actively manage the SAM policies and processes whilst coaching and providing advice to stakeholders and supporting internal teams including, IT, Procurement, Finance, and Legal in order to educate on optimal software usage and procurement options

What you will need for this role:
- Degree qualified or higher in Information Technology or related field
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Proficient in English
- Excellent Excel skills
- Attention to detail, both in numbers (financials) and in the contract (or similar) documents
- Background in IT, Contract Management, Finance, Data Analysis, Auditing, Compliance, or Natural Science
- ITAM qualifications could be an advantage
- Manage external providers and third parties
- Ability to deal with confrontation and manage difficult situations
