Responsibilities:

Business Improvement Perspective:

  • Work with Canada team to develop a revolving list of topics
  • Work with Canada team to analyze the list of topics to select focused business testing areas.
  • Work with Canada team to develop appropriate level of test plans to address the unique business risks in these selected areas.
  • Work with Canada team to perform tests.
  • Work with Canada team to develop the testing process including the receipt and review of evidence of process controls from key leaders to meet the Companys desired business process improvement outcomes.
  • Propose practical and value-added recommendations to address weaknesses and/or process inefficiencies and work with process owners to implement changes. Make recommendations as needed to update policies and procedures.
  • Prepare concise well written reports to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to management
  • Work with Canada team to maintain business improvement documentation templates, protocols and user instructions.
  • Work with Canada team to report results and recommendations to business owners and Executives for implementation.
  • Work with Canada team to develop strong relationships with Business Owners to support them in implementing business process improvements.

Controls Perspective

  • Work with Canada team to develop annual operational test plans to analyze the stated controls, identifying gaps, and creating action plans to remediate.
  • Identify the risks and control gaps in business processes and conduct research to provide process solutions and risk mitigation strategies partnering with business owners.
  • Create process documentation which identifies key controls, mitigating controls and any significant weaknesses and assess the design of processes and internal controls for efficiency and effectiveness. Identify non-compliance issues in policies and procedures.
  • Work with Canada team to identify opportunities to improve the control environment, make recommendations as needed regarding policies and procedures and work with process owners to implement and maintain changes

Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification degree in Law or Business Administration with minimum 3 years of experience in performing legal compliance, internal control and auditing.
  • Senior Control Specialist is well-versed in legal guidelines and corporate governance best practices.
  • Strong judicial, analytical, and numerical skills, demonstrating an ability to identify and react to emerging issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to manage conflicts and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and to be strategic in problem solving
  • Reporting and presenting data in a variety of formats and methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to deal with a demanding workload which will include conflicting demands on time
  • Certified compliance professional is a plus.
