Role purpose:

The purpose of this position is to perform the engineering functions of the unit's heating, air conditioning, and cooling systems by the company's policies and procedures to achieve the team's goals and planned plans. It will also support the work of the department.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Design, calculate, and develop technical solutions for HVAC systems.
  • Identify HVAC and cooling system requirements and select appropriate materials.
  • Develop solutions to meet energy efficiency and airflow requirements of the building.
  • Coordinate and integrate HVAC systems with other engineering systems in the building.
  • Providing technical support during the project phase and developing solutions for necessary repairs and improvements
  • Liaise with contractors to ensure resources & objectives are aligned with the corporate strategy & objectives.
  • Participates as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering assignment, including technical, studies and site investigations (includes relevant requirements needed such as permits, etc.).
  • Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations.
  • Maintains/optimizes existing assets and applies complex problem-solving techniques to resolve issues.
  • Responsible for delivering results on specific KPIs.
  • Responsible preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects.
    Ensures successful completion of the assigned project and engineering phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
  • Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work.
  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions.
  • Conduct comprehensive in-depth research and analysis on the equipment malfunction and find a solution to fix the issue.
  • Engages with project and assignment stakeholders. The solution for the heating and ventilation system will be implemented in accordance with Mongolian and Rio Tinto norms and standards.
  • Understands the role of engineering and recognizes the impacts the engineering process has with regard to projects, operations and the broader company.
    Assist the leader in setting O&M contractor performance goals & objectives, execution based on a plan to achieve them, and ensure progress is made & corrective measures are taken as necessary. Promptly provide drawings and explanations of the solution required for the work to the associated engineer.
  • Responsible and effectively driving the Energy/cost-saving projects.
  • Assists with the development of capital project processes, practices, and tools.
  • Assists with applying discipline governance and quality assurance/ quality control across capital projects.

General requirements:

  • Engineer with a bachelor's degree in heating ventilation and air conditioning.
  • Design engineer of the heating ventilation and air conditioning.
  • Engineer with at least 3 years of experience in designing heating plants, outdoor heating, building heating, ventilation, and cooling systems according to the working drawing stage. Experience in developing construction drawings of the HVAC system and checking the design.
  • Works well in Autocad, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and other widely used applications.
  • HVAC, heating system design and planning engineer
  • Fully understand international and Mongolian design standards.
  • Proficiency with AutoDesk software, such as AutoCAD, and Revit
  • Full understanding and compliance with HVAC system standards, codes, and regulations.
