Role purpose:
The Analyst Data Platform Developer is part of the Data Platform team and has the responsibility for providing development support services on Rio Tinto Operational Data Platform (ODP) environment directly supporting the platform portal & associated apps, current and future projects with a focus on supporting related technical activities.
Contract length: 14 months
Responsibilities:
- Support in flight ODP project implementation.
- Develop and maintain ODP Web applications.
- Follow and use DevOps practices and tools.
- Undertake technical activities of ODP platform upgrade and releases.
- Support source data ingestion and data warehouse ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) pipelines.
- Support the monitoring technical health activities of ODP instances e.g., platform performance, data latency, data ingestion pipeline status etc.
- Performance tuning and database optimization tasks where necessary.
- Support operational ODP instances which consists of Microsoft Technology stack including on-premises and Azure cloud components.
- Support and maintain ODP cloud components including regional and global components that deployed in Azure cloud.
- Undertake project related technical activities such as ODP solution building block deployment, configuration and ETL development for new source systems.
- Assist local IT support team with troubleshooting and resolution of ODP platform technical issues.
- Liaise with ODP technical SMEs and support groups.
- Follow regional and global IS&T standard, policies, and procedures such as change management, support processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 Years of experience with application or data system development.
- Experience with software development methodologies including Agile.
- Experience in writing process or task automation scripts such as PowerShell, Bash, etc.
- Strong problem-solving skills paired with experience in programming, such as JavaScript, C#.NET etc.
- Experience with web development framework such as ASP.NET, Angular and understanding of REST API
- Strong T-SQL and database project development experience.
- Experience with source control management tools (Git).
- Strong knowledge or experience with cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
- Understand CI/CD and DevOps philosophies.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to teammates and non-technical colleagues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate information clearly and concisely.
