Job title: Health and Safety Officer

Area: Dornogobi, Mongolia - 14/14 roster
Main Purpose:
- Ensure that all contractors, suppliers and project management staff comply with client safety plans, safety specifications and all applicable Mongolian legislation.
- To maintain collaborative and close working relationship with the multi-disciplinary Project Site teams to ensure effective implementation and continual improvement of Health and Safety performance on the project
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing all applicable legal and project health and safety requirements and providing guidance to Contractor and subcontractor personnel
- Assisting with the implementation of effective hazard identification and risk management processes for all work to be carried out by the Contractor
- Compiling and maintaining all health and safety related documents and records required of the Contractor
- Maintaining accurate health and safety statistics (for the Contractor and all subcontractors), and compiling health and safety performance reports as required
- Auditing the health and safety management system and workplace activities of the Contractor and each subcontractor on a monthly basis to assess compliance with the project health and safety requirements
- Abide to all traffic laws and client specific traffic requirements
- To enforce a stop and fix culture on sites related to all non-standard operations or unsafe work conditions
Requirements:
- NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, or NEBOSH International Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, or an equivalent training course as a minimum qualification
- Health and safety legislation training applicable to Mongolia.
- A valid Driving Licence (light motor vehicle).
- Computer literate (MS Applications) in (Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Medically fit to be able to conduct inspections and work on heights.
- Fluently in English to be able to communicate.
- Mongolian and/or Mandarin (Chinese) as additional language will be advantage.
- First Aid training will be an advantage.
Experience:
- At least 3 years' experience as a Health and Safety Officer on construction projects
- Experience and appropriate training with regard to implementing and maintaining a health and safety management system compliant with national legislation or an international standard
- Experience and appropriate training with regard to construction related hazard identification and risk management processes
- Experience and appropriate training with regard to incident investigation procedures and causation analysis
- Health and safety auditing experience and training
- Familiar with the construction industry and the onsite rules.
- Practical administrative experience in Construction Projects
