Job Responsibilities

  • Perform DTP (Desktop Publishing) tasks, such as layout design, minor design adjustments, finalizing artwork, and preparing files for print (pre-flighting PDFs) using the company's workflow systems and software. Ensure all work is completed within allocated timeframes to meet both client and production deadlines.
  • Apply knowledge of printing processes to verify the feasibility of designs for print, make necessary color adjustments, and apply appropriate techniques for print production and file management.

Duties

  • Follow detailed job/task instructions, which may come from operations, sales, or clients.
  • Execute typesetting as needed, and adjust text, artwork, or dielines according to style guides, manuals, or managerial direction.
  • Prepare and deliver high-resolution PDFs, web proofs, or printed color proofs using agreed-upon workflow procedures.
  • Pre-flight PDFs provided via disk or system, checking dimensions, page setup, cropping, and color to match the specifications outlined in the work ticket.
  • Apply necessary corrections, ensuring all work complies with standards and accurately reflects requested changes.
  • Ensure the correct versions, file names, and documents are delivered to the appropriate production departments.
  • Maintain high-quality standards, paying close attention to color accuracy, font consistency, design elements, and final sizes per the brief.
  • Accurately log all time and data into the companys system (e.g., PrintVis) for proper cost tracking.
  • Perform regular file management and system organization, archiving or retrieving artwork to maintain server space.
  • Conduct quality checks on final artwork and prototypes before client presentations or production.
  • Be available for questions or collaboration with others regarding ongoing projects.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in DTP or at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in DTP/production art.
  • Strong understanding of the printing industry.
  • Basic numeracy skills and good eyesight.
  • Preferred: Experience in print, POP production, or a technical studio environment.
  • Advantageous: Proficiency in Apple Mac systems.
  • Experience levels:
    • Junior: 3 years
    • Mid-Level: 4-6 years
    • Senior: 6+ years

Package Details

Compulsory provident fund: Managed by Alexander Forbes, set at 15% of CTC.
