CORE PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Field DTP Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality desktop publishing materials in diverse field settings. This role involves working directly at client locations or production sites to handle document design, layout, and printing tasks, ensuring that all materials meet project requirements and standards.

Key Responsibilities:


Document Design & Layout:
Utilize desktop publishing software to create, format, and finalize documents such as brochures, reports, and promotional materials based on client specifications and project needs.
Field Work: Travel to various client locations or production sites to manage on-site publishing tasks, gather data, and collaborate with clients to ensure accurate and timely completion of projects.

Client Interaction:
Engage with clients directly to understand their requirements, provide updates, and make necessary adjustments to designs or layouts as needed.

Quality Assurance:
Review and proofread documents to ensure accuracy, consistency, and high-quality output. Address any issues or discrepancies promptly.

Equipment Management:
Operate and maintain desktop publishing equipment and software, including printers and scanners. Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and perform troubleshooting as needed.

Data Management:
Collect and organize project data, including drafts, feedback, and final versions, ensuring secure storage and easy access for future reference.

Adaptability:
Handle diverse and dynamic work environments, adapting to various field conditions and client needs effectively.
Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certification in desktop publishing or graphic design is a plus.
Experience: Proven experience as a DTP Operator, with a portfolio demonstrating proficiency in desktop publishing and design. Experience in fieldwork or client-facing roles is advantageous.


COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

Knowledge/Experience

  • Matric & relevant retail layout experience
  • Mac OSX System literate
  • Must have excellent knowledge and understanding of the print repro process
  • Skilled use of DTP tools (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite)

Package Details

Salary is Cost to Company:

  • Compulsory provident fund with Alexander Forbes, set at 15% of CTC.
  • Medical aid is optional, but we are affiliated with Discovery medical aid.
