About the job Director Med Surgery Specialty
The Director of Med Surgery Specialty ensures high-quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall function and staffing of the unit in addition to forecasting, planning, and budget monitoring. The Director also fosters a culture of accountability and collaboration and supports the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures in support of facility objectives.
The Director assumes 24-hour responsibility and accountability for nursing care for Post-Surgical Care Units of Orthopedics, Oncology, and Neurosciences at Trident Medical Center. The Director assumes responsibility for the care of patients as they move through the hospital and into the home or other care facilities. Provides leadership and support to the unit using leadership skills to ensure the best outcomes and high-quality compassionate patient care. The director works with medical staff and other healthcare professionals collaboratively. Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization. The job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. Employees must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student. Direct supervision means the primary caregiver is readily available to the student throughout the shift.
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree or other approved education plan required; BSN preferred
- Master's Degree preferred
- 3+ years of acute care nursing experience required; 1+ years of experience in leadership in an acute care setting required
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation required
- BLS required
