JUNIOR ESTIMATOR
About the job JUNIOR ESTIMATOR
The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately evaluating project costs and determining the feasibility of undertaking those projects. This role requires familiarity with our competitive advantages as an organization and the ability to effectively communicate these benefits throughout the bidding process.
Responsibilities:
- Produce cost estimates and proposals for structural steel bid projects and change orders on awarded projects.
- Develop, implement, participate in, and monitor a plan for completing material and labor take-offs from structural and architectural design drawings.
- Take responsibility for complex projects and routinely function as the estimate team leader.
- Review and verify the completeness of project drawings and specifications, and distribute them to assigned estimators.
- Maintain and manage well-developed subcontractor and supplier relationships.
- Obtain pricing for specialty items not contained in the estimating software database.
- Generate estimate summaries and cost recap sheets in Excel.
- Develop preliminary connection designs based on member capacities and provided loads.
- Collaborate with the Production Department to review and update estimating standards.
- Work overtime when required to meet bid deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of related experience in the steel industry.
- Familiarity with steel fabrication processes and techniques and advanced knowledge of construction elements (welding and constructability).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex design documents and specifications.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects
- simultaneously.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Experience with Excel and preliminary connection design.
Salary - 55k to 65k
