About the job Project Engineer (Construction)

The Project Engineer cum Quantity Surveyor will manage and supervise construction and maintenance projects. He/She will be responsible for the technical and operational aspect of the project. The Project Engineer cum QS will also manage the costs optimally on a construction project. They help to ensure that the construction project is completed within its projected budget with optimal resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Secure new contracts / projects, administer all project contracts.
  • Prepare tender and contract documents including bills of quantities;
  • Undertake costs analysis for all project trade works;
  • Establish clients requirements and undertake feasibility studies with project team, perform value management and cost control;
  • Execute procurement strategy and propose refinements / improvements;
  • Coordinate with clients / main contractor, architect, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors;
  • Conduct preliminary surveys of the construction site;
  • Responsible for submission of technical drawings, work schedules and samples for clients / main contractor's approval;
  • Undertake structural analysis, calculations and prepare design sketches and drawings indicating arrangement and design intent for a variety of building structures;
  • Review and check shop drawings and built drawings;
  • Attend site meetings with owners / subcontractors;
  • Responsible for overall aspects of the management of subcontractors;
  • Keep in touch with designers, architects, consultants and suppliers to ensure that construction is on schedule;
  • Plan, work, schedule and delivery of equipment and materials to site;
  • Responsible for monthly progress claims and project costing;
  • Prepare Method Statement, Risk Assessment and Safe Work Procedure;
  • Ensure compliance with time and money constraints or budgets for projects; with relevant QMS, OHSAS, EMS and company standards and policies.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Preferably Degree in Quantity Surveying or Engineering (Civil / Structural / Construction)
  • Possess relevant skills in MS Office, Project Softwares,
  • At least 5 years working experience in Building Construction specializing in Quantity Surveying or Engineering in Civil / Construction / Structural
  • Good communication skills in both oral and written English and has the ability to liaise effectively with other professionals, e.g. clients / developers, main contractors, construction managers, quantity surveyors, subcontractors, architects, designers, other engineers, consultants, suppliers, etc.
  • Possess excellent negotiation and coordination skills and able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Do any other tasks as assigned or requested by Management.
