About the job Customer Quality Engineer (CQE) & Lab Supervisor
Our client is a mid-sized manufacturer of personal care products.
They are seeking a detail-oriented and personable Customer Quality Engineer (CQE) & Lab Supervisor to oversee customer-facing quality activities and laboratory operations within a consumer products manufacturing environment. In this role, you will work closely with international customers, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure products meet quality standards, testing requirements, and customer expectations. The ideal candidate will combine deep quality engineering expertise, lab supervision experience, and the ability to manage customer quality concerns in a fast-paced production environment.
Must be fluent in Mandarin, and also possess strong working proficiency in English.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage customer quality issues, investigations, and corrective actions to ensure timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Supervise daily laboratory operations including product testing, inspection activities, calibration, and reporting.
- Ensure laboratory processes comply with internal quality standards, testing protocols, and applicable industry regulations.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities related to customer complaints and product non-conformances.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, test methods, and quality requirements to ensure compliance and product consistency.
- Monitor and analyze quality data, laboratory results, and customer feedback to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) activities including validation testing, quality documentation, and process readiness.
- Coordinate with production and supplier quality teams to address recurring quality issues and implement long-term solutions.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, testing procedures, and calibration records to ensure operational reliability and accuracy.
- Prepare customer quality reports, audit documentation, and technical presentations when required.
- Train and supervise laboratory technicians and support continuous improvement initiatives across quality and testing operations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in customer quality roles, preferably in small batch manufacturing environments.
- Familiar with QFD (Quality Function Deployment) and quality management in a high mix, low volume production environment.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems, testing procedures, and manufacturing quality processes.
- Experience managing customer complaints, corrective actions, and root cause analysis processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and testing standards.
- Hands-on experience supervising laboratory operations, testing equipment, and calibration activities.
- Familiarity with quality methodologies such as CAPA, 8D, FMEA, SPC, or similar quality tools.
- Fluent in Mandarin, and strong professional working fluency in English.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
