Our client is a major manufacturer of wind turbines and other green energy solutions.

They are seeking a careful and highly-knowledgeable Wind Turbine (WTG) Technical Manager with an immaculate background in wind energy systems, turbine operations, and renewable energy project execution. In this role, you will work closely with project teams, OEMs, site engineers, commissioning teams, operations personnel, and senior leadership to oversee the technical performance, reliability, and engineering support functions of wind turbine projects. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in wind turbine systems, combined with strong leadership and cross-functional coordination experience within utility-scale renewable energy environments.

Please note that this role requires significant travel and a willingness to work in remote project sites. It is not necessarily based in the city of this posting.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the technical management and engineering support activities for wind turbine generator (WTG) projects and operational wind farms.
  • Provide technical oversight for turbine installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and performance optimization activities.
  • Review and validate engineering documentation, technical specifications, commissioning procedures, and OEM requirements.
  • Support root cause analysis and resolution of turbine faults, mechanical failures, electrical issues, and operational performance concerns.
  • Monitor turbine reliability, availability, and operational KPIs to identify opportunities for performance improvement and downtime reduction.
  • Coordinate technical interfaces between construction, commissioning, operations, and maintenance teams.
  • Lead technical discussions with turbine OEMs, EPC contractors, suppliers, and client representatives.
  • Support major corrective maintenance activities including gearbox, generator, blade, hydraulic, and electrical system repairs.
  • Manage the turbine technical punch list and ensure all outstanding items are closed prior to provisional acceptance certificate (PAC) issuance.
  • Provide technical input into the operations and maintenance handover, including review of O&M manuals, spare parts lists, and training programs for local operations teams.
  • Ensure compliance with technical standards, quality requirements, and renewable energy industry best practices
  • Assist with planning and execution of preventive maintenance strategies and asset reliability programs.
  • Support technical due diligence, warranty management, and lifecycle optimization initiatives.
  • Mentor and support site engineers, field service engineers, and technical personnel across project locations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on turbine performance, operational efficiency, and engineering quality.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 8 - 10 years of experience in the wind energy industry, with 3 recent years in a senior technical or engineering management role.
  • Strong hands-on technical knowledge of wind turbine systems including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems.
  • Proven experience supporting turbine installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, or operational performance management.
  • Familiarity with major turbine manufacturers and their technical documentation standards.
  • Strong understanding of wind farm operations, reliability engineering, and renewable energy project execution.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, electrical schematics, and commissioning documentation.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical teams and coordinating with EPC contractors and OEMs.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, turbine monitoring platforms, and performance analysis tools.
  • Willingness to travel and work on remote project sites or rotational schedules when required.
  • Fluency in local language, and decent working proficiency in English is REQUIRED. Other languages will be a bonus.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, renewable energy engineering, or a related technical field.
