Sagan represents a growing real estate investment and management firm specializing in senior living communities. Their team oversees multiple properties, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager - Property Accounting will oversee financial reporting, property accounting, and compliance for a portfolio of senior living properties. This role involves working closely with property teams, investors, and external accountants to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in U.S. senior living property accounting and strong proficiency in Yardi. Candidates with a senior living property accounting background who have since moved into corporate accounting will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee external property accountants to ensure accurate financial reporting and investor updates.
- Collaborate with property teams, training staff on accounting processes and invoice management.
- Manage accounts payable, including vendor bills, credit transactions, and reimbursements.
- Reconcile bank accounts and prepare cash projections.
- Prepare loan draws and ensure compliance with debt covenants.
- Support audits, tax filings, and financial compliance for contracts and agreements.
- Assist with due diligence projects and identify process improvements for efficiency.
- Complete other ad hoc accounting tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- 6-8 years of experience in U.S. senior living property accounting.
- Strong knowledge of Yardi Accounting Software (user permissions, entity setup, unit management, GL codes, bank account setup, uploading data, payscan, intercompany, etc.).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and general financial analysis.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and problem-solve effectively.
Nice-to-Haves:
- CPA certification (preferred but not required).
- Experience in Senior Living or similar asset management environments.
- Background in process improvement and accounting workflow automation.
