The Job You Will Perform:
Will support a group of manufacturing plants in unionized and non-union facilities.
Will report to Area Human Resource Lead and functionally to the business Region General Manager. This is a hands on position that requires relationships, interaction, and visibility with all levels of the organization. The successful candidate will have a strong blend of business partnership experience, human resource/labor relations, safety leadership, and change management skills.
Highly motivated, engaged, committed individual with experience in Human Resources in a manufacturing environment.
Business Partner: Act with region management to lead HR initiatives at the sites, institute work improvements which positively impact business profitability and raise employee engagement.
Labor Relations: Work with local management teams on building a collaborative relationship with local unions; understand and interpret complex contract language and past practices, active leadership and involvement with grievance process, and serve as company spokesperson for negotiations and perhaps arbitrations. Employee Relations: Develop and ensure implementation of an employee relations strategy. Coordinate closely with corporate employee relations and the business sector to ensure alignment and support. Serve as an employee advocate and facilitate the union-free issue resolution process including peer review, as well as reinforcement of a union-free culture.
Leadership Development, Engagement, and Diversity: Educate, coach and counsel members of the organization on job performance management, employee development and diversity to build work teams who fully contribute to exceeding business goals.
Recruiting: Recruit hourly and salaried employees to help the organization meet its goals in employee attraction, development and retention.
Educate and coach line management on company policies, plant work rules, as well as applicable federal and state regulations, to ensure fair and consistent delivery of human resources products and services.
My-View: Provide education and support to the company's new engagement initiative. Help leaders and team members understand data, provide facilitation to develop engagement action plans and provide support to make the action plans successful.
Accountable for timely completion of the region plants Affirmative Action Plan programs and processes. Work with region management to lead the planning and implementation of communication strategies to deliver accurate, consistent, and timely information on business issues and employee concerns.
Research and introduce human resources best practice concepts to ensure that the organization is utilizing leading edge human resources technology and proactively considering and implementing new strategies. Share best practices across the organization.
Champion the change management process consistent with the IP Way Forward.
Develop SAP and other systems expertise.
Participate in special projects at business and enterprise level as required
The Skills You Will Bring:
Requires BS degree in HR, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or a related discipline in which business knowledge or HR practices are gained.
At least six years of multi-faceted human resources experience in union and union-free environments.
Must be willing to work in both tactical and strategic elements of the function.
Must be geographically flexible and mobile for future opportunities with the company.
Must be willing to be flexible as it relates to work hours and work location during the week.
Must be customer focused, have excellent problem solving, organizational, communication and people skills. Specific competencies include functional/technical skills, action oriented, managerial courage, dealing with ambiguity, career ambition, command skills, motivating others, organizing, drive for results, problem solving, strategic agility and building effective teams.
