Machinist

Overview

Our client is looking for a hard-working, intelligent, and trustworthy machinist to join their core staff of machinists. Accuracy and integrity drive you to be the best you can be while meeting customer deadlines. 

You may be running either lathes and/or mills depending on your experience and desires. 

Work would be performed primarily in our clients facility but could also be done on site at customers' premises. 

A strong mechanical aptitude is essential to tear down various mechanical systems, repair what's broken and put it all back together again.

Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate and maintain precision equipment
• Mill, turn, drill, shape and grind machine parts to specifications
• Repair parts or create new ones
• Measure and mark raw materials needed to manufacture parts
• Consult with engineers and coworkers
• Understand the properties of different metals
• Inspect and test finished products
• Program mills, drills and lathes
• Follow safety rules
• Maintain production and quality logs

Qualifications: 

• Excellent coordination and mechanical skills
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and safety
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds
• Proficient in math 

Education: 

• Highschool degree or equivalent 
• Experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly
• Working knowledge of safety protocols
• Apprenticeship or vocational training an asset
