The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Manager of Emergency Services to support the day-to-day operations of a busy Emergency Department within a respected healthcare organization in the Pacific Northwest. This leader will work closely with the Director to ensure high-quality patient care, strong staff engagement, and operational excellence.

This is an ideal role for a collaborative, hands-on leader who enjoys mentoring teams, improving processes, and stepping in when needed.

Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week

  • Day and evening shifts

  • Exempt position

Compensation

  • Salary range: $103,152 – $154,728

  • $15,000 sign-on bonus

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Director in implementing quality strategies aligned with departmental and organizational goals

  • Screen, interview, and hire staff as needed

  • Facilitate onboarding and orientation for new team members

  • Assist with development and ongoing review of staffing plans

  • Participate in leadership rounds with new staff to assess onboarding effectiveness and team fit

  • Support department-specific onboarding, competencies, and education in collaboration with educators and preceptors

  • Promote excellent patient experiences through consistent standards, initiatives, and best practices

  • Utilize shared governance principles in nursing practice and decision-making

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies including DNV and the Washington State Department of Health

  • Coach and educate staff on expectations and opportunities for improvement

Operational Leadership

  • Create and maintain staff schedules aligned with productivity standards and patient needs

  • Serve as a resource to Charge Nurses for daily staffing and scheduling decisions

  • Assist with direct patient care and charge nurse duties during emergent situations as needed

  • Monitor department environment to ensure cleanliness, comfort, and readiness

  • Ensure appropriate supplies and equipment are available and ordered as necessary

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

  • Current Washington State RN license

  • Current Basic Life Support certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior supervisory or management experience strongly preferred

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

  • Advanced certification in Medical Surgical or ICU care encouraged
