As the Construction Superintendent you'll oversee daily job site operations, including scheduling, production, material procurement, workforce management, equipment coordination, quality control, and safety compliance.
The Construction Superintendent Will:
- Reviews contract documents to develop a construction plan, establishing timelines, staffing needs, and procedures based on available tools, equipment, and construction methods.
- Collaborates with the Project Manager to create and maintain the project schedule, utilizing look-ahead schedules to track progress and identify potential challenges.
- Organizes pre-construction and pre-mobilization meetings with the Project Manager to ensure smooth project kickoff.
- Oversees the procurement and timely delivery of tools and materials to align with the project schedule.
- Keeps all stakeholders informed on construction progress and issues.
- Directing supervisory teams in planning, executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating project phases to avoid delays.
- Consulting with subcontractors before mobilization to review scope and schedule, and advising them on sequencing and timeline requirements.
- Works with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to address workforce concerns, complaints, and grievances.
- Collaborates with engineers, inspectors, and material suppliers to troubleshoot construction issues and enhance building methods.
- Conducts inspections of work in progress to ensure compliance with specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
- Assists in preparing PMP.
The Construction Superintendent Experience:
- Education & Experience: Bachelors degree in construction or a related field, or a minimum of 5 years of commercial construction experience demonstrating a strong understanding of construction processes.
- Technical Expertise: Proficient in interpreting blueprints, applying building codes, and ensuring compliance with design requirements.
- Administrative Skills: Effectively monitors project progress, coordinates work activities, and keeps stakeholders informed of developments and challenges.
- Leadership & Management: Establishes proactive techniques to supervise teams, follows up on delegated tasks, and fosters collaboration among coworkers, subcontractors, and clients to achieve project goals.
- Problem-Solving: Analyzes data from multiple sources to develop and implement effective solutions.
- Strategic Planning: Develops and executes action plans, efficiently allocates resources, assigns personnel, and maintains strong organizational skills.
- Initiative & Drive: Takes proactive steps to influence project outcomes, works independently with minimal supervision, and strives for performance beyond baseline expectations.
- Software Knowledge: Familiarity with CMiC.
