About the job Technical Writer

  • Gather technical information from technical teams, and other stakeholders to produce accurate documentation for government stakeholders such as:
    • System Architecture
    • Integration Guides and API Documentation
    • Business Requirements Document (e.g., BRD, SRS, URS)
    • Compliance Reports
  • Create user manuals, administrator guides, training materials, and tutorials for end-users of developed systems.
  • Lead the development of advanced documentation templates based on input from technical teams.
  • Review and edit content from team members to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to governmental standards (e.g., data privacy laws, accessibility, and audit trails).
  • Ensure all documentation adheres to government standards for accessibility (e.g., WCAG), security, privacy, and plain language guidelines.
  • Maintain and update documentation repositories using tools like Confluence, SharePoint, and Azure DevOps throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage documentation processes in tools like Confluence, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro, including version control and iterative updates.
  • Facilitate workshops and interviews with SMEs to extract and translate complex technical details into accessible formats.
  • Collaborate in agile workflows, attending design reviews, sprint demos, and peer reviews to incorporate feedback.
  • Contribute to project planning by defining documentation scopes, timelines, and quality gates aligned with agile methodologies.
  • Handle post-deployment revisions, handover documentation, and support for user adoption in government environments.
    Qualifications
    • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in technical writing (5+ years strongly preferred), ideally in software development, IT projects, or government/public-sector environments.
    • Bachelor's degree in English with technical experience, or bachelor's degree in computer science, or a related field, or equivalent professional certification.
    Key Skills and Competencies
    • Strong proficiency in both technical Arabic and English (speaking and writing) to handle bilingual documentation needs. Familiar with standard and common technical terms in both Arabic and English.
    • Advanced familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (demonstrating proper utilization without relying on improvised solutions).
    • Expertise in collaboration and documentation tools such as Confluence, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
    • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts and paraphrase dense paragraphs into clear, structured, and audience-appropriate content while preserving core concepts and accuracy.
    • Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to maintain high-level context and relevance.
    • Flexibility and patience in learning new domains and pulling detailed information from technical team members who may have weak communication skills.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables in high-stakes environments with strong attention to detail.
    • Ability and eagerness to learn, adapt, and grow in a dynamic environment.
    • Highly cooperative, supportive, and collaborative mindset; able to work effectively and positively with diverse personalities and cross-functional teams.
    Preferred Skills and Qualifications
    • Experience across multiple industry sectors.
    • Experience creating and editing training videos or tutorials.
    • Familiarity with using AI tools and assistants to enhance technical writing and documentation.
    • Translation experience between Arabic and English technical content.
