We are seeking an STA (Supplier Technical Assistance) Manager to be based out of our partners facility located in Chennai (Tamil Nadu). This person will dual report to our Group Purchasing Manager based in Thailand, and our Operations Plant Quality Manager based in Australia, and would need to act as a direct liaison with our partner to ensure that effective automotive VMI processes are in place.

This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our engineering processes and supplier relations. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise and project management skills to drive continuous improvement and innovation within our engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical assistance to suppliers on product specifications, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance protocols.
  • During the New Model Program phase, lead the supplier reviews related to part quality, checking fixtures and PPAP preparations. Monitor and drive delivery of parts at quality on time based on program launch planning
  • Collaborate with local suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts of good quality.
  • Conduct regular assessments of supplier capabilities, processes, and quality metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement and oversee initiatives aimed at enhancing supplier performance, including process audits, and corrective action plans.
  • Work closely with internal RMA teams in Thailand and Australia, including engineering, quality assurance, procurement and MP&L to ensure alignment on supplier performance and quality standards.
  • Gather feedback on any supplier related concerns and work with suppliers to analyze, develop containments, and long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare and present reports on supplier performance, technical issues, and improvement initiatives to senior management.
  • Ensure timely implementation of ECNs and SREA.

Background and experience

  • A degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University.
  • 2 years experience in electrical/harness development product/process.
  • 5 years experience in the Automotive APQP/STA/SQE process and requirements.
  • Proficiency in understanding electrical/harness drawings and production processes.
  • Knowledge of PPAP & APQP Systems, PFMEA, Control Plan and ISO Standards.
  • Supplier development expertise.
  • Project management skills and experience with new vehicle program launches.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
