Capital Automotive is Myanmars authorized John Deere, Ford and Jaguar Land Rover distributor with a nationwide network of sales and aftersales locations. Capital Motors, a joint venture between RMA Group and Capital Diamond Star Group, also owns a custom built Ford assembly plant authorized by Ford global to manufacture Ford vehicles for the Myanmar market.

Overview of the Role

The Automotive General Manager will report directly to the Co-CEO of Capital Automotive, and lead the Sales and After-Sales functions for Ford and Jaguar Land Rover in Myanmar (with flexibility to include other brands as required).

This role is accountable for sales forecasting and order planning for Ford SKD production, developing and executing a dealer network strategy, and establishing a competitive retail pricing framework. The incumbent will manage key OEM and dealer relationships, drive network expansion initiatives, evaluate new automotive and accessory brands, and provide strategic market insights to senior leadership to grow market share and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly production planning and forecasting cycle with RMAF and sales managers; identify out-of-balance or aging stock and implement corrective actions with Sales.
  • Develop and obtain approval for new model and monthly pricing, conducting competitive analyses and coordinating with Sales, Finance, and other departments.
  • Formulate strategy and annual plans for dealer network development, including site targeting, prospecting, business-plan preparation, facility design, training, and launch support.
  • Establish a dealer image strategy that leverages brand strengths and aligns with consumer expectations.
  • Manage external relationships with OEMs and non-government suppliers.
  • Oversee product portfolio development, new model evaluations, and specification planning, ensuring responsiveness to market and competitive dynamics to maximize segment share.
  • Conduct market studies for new brands and products, recommending strategic actions to management.

Background and Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of senior-level experience in the automotive industry.
  • Deep understanding of automotive sector dynamics and consumer behavior.
  • Proven expertise in strategic planning and execution.
  • Demonstrated success managing sales and pricing strategies.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to build consensus across functions.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing retail and after-sales teams.

Additional Details

This position requires approximately 25% domestic travel to retail dealer locations and quarterly international travel to RMA Group offices in Bangkok and other Southeast Asian countries.

It is classified as an expatriate assignment due to the specialized skill set needed in Myanmars automotive market.
