Overview of the role
RMA Automotive is a major global manufacturer and supplier of modified special vehicles, accessories, parts, after sales service and training. With over 30 years of engineering expertise, RMA Automotive ranks as one of the worlds leading suppliers of special vehicles and a leading retail partner to automobile partners globally. We are looking for a strategically minded general manager to lead our retail distribution function, overseeing all retail distribution brand development initiatives as the functional lead, whilst remaining tactically focused to ensure effective execution of business development strategies. This person would need to develop relationships with strategic partners, actively seek out opportunities to expand the retail market, and drive profitable growth of new and existing brands under the RMA Automotive portfolio.
This role reports into the Senior Vice President RMA Group and Managing Director, Automotive, based out of Bangkok.
Key objectives
- Lead the profitable development of the Automotive Retail Distribution Business per brand across multiple markets with cross functional volume and P&L responsibility
- Setup and manage transparent performance management across markets and brands.
- Drive the development of country strategies, working alongside the Country Retail Leads and taking into account local and geographical considerations
- In collaboration with the country heads, identify opportunities for new Brand importer- and retail distributorships.
- Identify and manage the acquisition, implementation and profitable growth of new brands and business opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with OEMs, stakeholders and country Teams
- Identify opportunities for shared services and lead their effective implementation
- Create platforms for best practice sharing across countries and brands
Team leadership
This role works closely with the Automotive Retail Teams located in South-East Asia (namely Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Cambodia). Due to the nature of the role and organization, the Country Retail Leads will report into this role in a Matrix structure. The successful candidate will also have the ability to structure reporting lines and recruit team members, based on agreed strategic priorities in driving through profitable retail growth.
Background and experience
- 15+ years experience in Automotive Wholesale and Retail
- Deep knowledge of Wholesale steering of Sales and Aftersales processes
- Network development track record
- Senior management role in Sales, Marketing and Network Development
- Sales & price planning experience across markets
- Data-driven, with a strong understanding of and ability to measure and manage financial performance of markets
- Strategic thinking, with the ability to develop and execute strategic plans
- Project Management capability in the implementation of strategy on local country levels
- Successful track record in recruiting and leading senior managers
- Highly fluent in English
- International working experience, with demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-country and disparate teams
