Overview of the Role
The Business Development Manager is responsible for expanding, supporting, and maintaining a high-performing national dealer and distribution network across Australia. Acting as the primary liaison between the business, Fleet Management Organisations (FMOs), and dealership partners, the role focuses on strengthening relationships, driving sales growth, and ensuring consistent commercial alignment and brand representation nationwide. This position plays a critical role in increasing market presence through strategic channel development and targeted regional support.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect, onboard, and manage distributors and dealerships aligned with the companys strategic objectives.
- Expand national distribution coverage and improve overall dealer network efficiency.
- Develop and support regional sales plans in collaboration with dealers and channel partners.
- Maintain structured communication with dealerships and FMOs, including regular performance reviews and product updates.
- Act as the primary escalation point for commercial, operational, and product-related matters.
- Provide channel partners with updated pricing, sales tools, technical guides, and promotional materials.
- Track and analyse dealer performance, sales pipelines, and forecasted demand.
- Support bids, tenders, and major project activity through effective channel coordination.
- Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and emerging opportunities, providing insights to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate record keeping of dealer engagement, territory performance, pricing, and commercial terms.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, industry events, and dealer network meetings.
Background and Experience
- Proven B2B sales experience within automotive, aftermarket, manufacturing, or related technical industries.
- Demonstrated success managing dealer networks, FMOs, or channel-based sales environments.
- Strong background in business development, relationship management, and commercial negotiation.
- Experience supporting tenders, bids, or major project sales is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Analytical and commercially aware, with the ability to interpret market and performance data.
- High level of autonomy, accountability, and problem-solving capability.
- Confident presenter, capable of delivering product training and dealer support.
- Current drivers licence.
- Training in CRM systems, sales methodologies, or dealer development frameworks is preferred.
- Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development relevant to the role.
Additional Information
This role is based in Brisbane, Australia, and requires regular national travel to support dealerships, FMOs, and industry engagements. The Business Development Manager is expected to act as a strong brand ambassador, ensuring consistent representation and customer experience standards across all channels.
