AI-Assisted Software Developer Intern

Job Context:

Riseup Labs is hiring an AI-Assisted Software Developer Intern who is comfortable working across the full stack but more importantly, who has already embraced AI-native ways of building software. This isn't a "learn to code" internship. We're looking for someone who already codes, and who uses AI agents and modern AI-assisted workflows as a core part of how they build, ship, and debug,  not as a novelty.

You'll work alongside senior engineers on real client and internal product work, contributing across backend, frontend, database, infrastructure, and deployment — while helping us refine internal best practices for AI-assisted and agentic development.

Job Responsibilities:

• Build and ship features across the full stack: backend services/APIs, frontend UI, database schemas, and deployment pipelines.
• Use AI coding agents (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) as a primary development tool — not just autocomplete, but for planning, scaffolding, refactoring, and debugging.
• Practice "vibe coding" responsibly: rapidly prototyping with AI assistance while still validating, testing, and understanding the code you ship.
• Apply AIDLC (AI-Driven/Assisted Development Life Cycle) principles, using AI across requirements, design, coding, testing, and deployment stages, not just code generation.
• Design and orchestrate simple AI agent workflows (multi-step agents, tool use, MCP servers) for internal or client use cases.
• Write clean, maintainable code and documentation that a human (and an AI agent) can pick up and extend.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and contribute to our evolving AI development playbook

Educational Requirements:

• Currently completed a degree in CSE, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent self-taught experience)

Additional Requirements:

• Full-Stack Fundamentals
  • Backend: Node.js, Python, or similar (REST/GraphQL API design, authentication, business logic)
  • Frontend: HTML/CSS/JS with a modern framework (React, Vue, or similar)
  • Database design: relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and/or NoSQL (MongoDB); schema design, indexing, basic query optimization
  • Infra & Deployment: basic understanding of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP), Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Git workflows
• AI-Native Development Skills
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience "vibe coding" with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor, etc.) — able to show projects or examples.
  • Practical understanding of AI agent concepts: prompting, tool/function calling, context management, agent orchestration.
  • Familiarity with AIDLC concepts, using AI meaningfully across the SDLC, not just for code snippets.
  • Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code (spot bugs, security issues, and bad patterns rather than accepting output blindly)
  • Comfortable writing clear prompts/specs that get consistent, high-quality output from AI tools

Nice to Have

• Exposure to MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers or building custom AI tools/integrations.
• Experience with prompt engineering or fine-tuning.
• A portfolio, GitHub, or personal projects that show AI-assisted build process.
• Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts (even without formal ML background).

Working hour:

• 09.00 AM to 6.00 PM
