About the job Technical Artist
Job Context:
Riseup Labs is looking for a creative individual with both an artistic eye with solid technical knowledge to join our team. The Technical Artist acts as the key bridge between design, engineering and gameplay teams, and works closely with designers, engineers, mathematicians, game artists, and executives to ensure our games achieve our vision.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and direction to Technical Artists
- Provide technical support and guidance to the design team, assisting with workflow, automation, software and tools
- Provide hands-on support to artists and engineers regarding asset performance and validation
- Examine and optimize 2D and 3D game art content such as raster and vector graphics, models, textures, meshes, vfx, rigs, animations, sounds and engine assets
- Analyze, develop, improve and maintain existing 2D and 3D asset pipelines
- Analyze, develop, improve and integrate process tools and automation within the design workflow
- Prototype new workflows and systems
- Stay current with new game industry tools and processes, develop novel solutions when required
- Supervise design and graphic asset implementation
- Inspire, educate and empower the design and art teams to optimize their processes
- Collaborate with engineers and testers to diagnose and resolve in-game problems
- Review, write and edit documentation for design team process and technology
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor in any discipline from any reputed public or private university.
Additional Requirements:
- Unity Prototyping
- Proficiency in English is a must.
- Combination of 2 or more of the following:
- 2+ Years as a Technical Artist
- 2+ Years professional programming experience in an agency, studio or in-house team environment
- 2+ years in game development (or 5+ in a related industry)
- 2+ years of relevant work experience in graphic/visual design
- 2+ Shipped and/or operational live mobile game using Unity
- Experience working on at least one large project
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with advanced verbal and written proficiency in English
- Excellent interpersonal skills in working with and between creative and technical teams
- Solid understanding and experience in refining and designing art and animation pipelines
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail
- Ability to adapt to different art styles
- Ability to take, translate, and effectively execute on creative and technical direction
- Continually learning new software skills to improve the team’s toolset and development processes.
- Experience creating motion graphics and animations for games (See TECHNOLOGIES below*. Please provide samples)
- Proficient in industry standard UX and UI design tools*Proficient in industry standard 2D and 3D art and animation tools*
- Strong working knowledge of game engines* and their respective art tools
- Deep understanding of real time rendering and particle systems
- Experience with version control with Git or equivalent on multiple projects
- Ability to edit and write technical documentation

Working Hours:
- 5:00 pm - 2:00 am
