Position: Virtual Math Instructor - Business Calculus
Number of hours: 10-15 hours/week
Schedule: EST
Tasks required:
Deliver customized, one-on-one virtual sessions focused on calculus concepts as applied to business and economics
Develop and adapt lesson plans based on the individual student's pace, needs, and learning goals
- Focus on key topics such as:
Limits and continuity
Derivatives and their interpretation in business contexts
Product, quotient, and chain rules
Exponential and logarithmic functions
Implicit differentiation
Elasticity of demand, marginal cost/revenue, and optimization problems
Integration and area under curves as applied to revenue/cost
Business-related applications of multivariable functions and partial derivatives
Provide continuous, tailored feedback to help the student master concepts and apply them confidently
Use real-world business and economic examples to deepen understanding and relevance
Assess student comprehension through informal exercises, problem-solving, and discussion
Remain available for regular check-ins or flexible scheduling, based on the student’s availability and progress
Communicate with academic coordinators (if applicable) to align support with any formal curriculum or assessment goals
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Applied Math, or a related field (master’s preferred)
Solid experience teaching or tutoring business calculus, preferably online
Strong grasp of calculus concepts and their applications in business/economics
Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to simplify complex ideas and adapt to varied learning styles
Familiarity with online teaching tools (Zoom, Google Meet, whiteboard apps, etc.)
