The Director of Health Information Management is responsible for leading departmental activities and resources to align with organizational objectives. This role ensures compliance with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical standards while driving operational excellence and fostering professional growth within the department.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards to meet organizational requirements.
  • Oversee operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, and service quality, to achieve performance and compliance objectives.
  • Manage staffing activities, including hiring, onboarding, evaluations, disciplinary actions, and ongoing education.
  • Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets to ensure financial compliance.
  • Coordinate and direct internal and external audits.
  • Foster a culture that supports professional development and growth.
  • Ensure the departments role in the continuum of care is effectively maintained and enhanced.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Associates degree or graduate of a related program required.
    • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Certifications:
    • RHIT certification required.
    • RHIA certification preferred.
    • Registration with the American Health Information Management Association required.
  • Skills:
    • Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
    • Capacity to work under minimal supervision in high-stress environments.
