Job Summary:

As a Structural Engineer in the Oil & Energy industry, you will play a crucial role in the design of Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG). This position involves performing design functions specific to the structural engineering scope to meet customer requirements. Your responsibilities will include completing design calculations and developing final drawings for the fabrication and supply of structural components.

Routine Decision Making/Problem Solving:

  • Make design decisions based on best practices with a solid understanding of core structural/mechanical concepts.
  • Resolve customer inquiries, handle supplier/fabricator requests for changes, and manage scope modifications.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct design calculations specific to the structural scope.
  • Review final drawings representing the generated designs.
  • Engage in development work related to Design Guides & Layout Guidelines, and Engineering Policies, focusing on continuous improvements.
  • Collaborate with contractors to review designs, providing detailed comments and addressing questions.
  • Work with customers and other departments to address communication needs, clarify and justify designs, and provide follow-up information.

Required Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of steel design.
  • Knowledge of boiler equipment or HRSG and limitations, preferred.

Required Skills or Abilities:

  • Ability to understand and execute job requirements for project execution.
  • Bring steel knowledge to the role and have the ability to learn structural design concepts specific to the field.
  • Original thinking, sound judgment, and competence in all job phases.
  • Capable of developing strong working relationships with clients and internal customers.
  • Driven to perform precise calculations for tedious tasks.

Formal Education:

Four-year college education, Civil Structural/Mechanical Engineering preferred.

Experience:

2+ years of experience in heat recovery.
