About this Opportunity

Richmond Country Club is seeking a Horticulturist to join our Golf Course and Grounds Maintenance team, for the 2025 season starting April to December. This individual will be reporting to the Head Golf Course Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent. The individual will work as a cohesive crew with the Golf Course and Turf team. The Richmond Country Club has a challenging 6800-yard A.V. Macan golf course. With approximately 1000 members, our club is unique among the other Lower Mainland golf and athletic clubs we are the only club to offer golf, tennis, aquatics, athletics and social programming for families and members of all ages.

The Horticulturist Duties:

  • Planning and ordering needed plant material and tools.
  • The care of all flower beds and hanging baskets.
  • Carrying out all fertility and soil maintenance needs.
  • Monitoring and Control of plant pests.
  • Performing all labor-related duties needed for position.
  • Design and implement new flower bed ideas.
  • Maintain a good standard of required daily record keeping.
  • Keep all work areas clean and organized.
  • Planning and execution of all horticulture and some arboriculture related tasks throughout the golf course and clubhouse areas.
  • Developing the yearly plant order.


Knowledge and Experience:

  • A diploma or degree in Horticulture is an asset- A combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Having previous golf course or nursery experience would be an asset
  • Strong knowledge of West Coast Plant ID
  • Irrigation system knowledge an asset
  • The ability to operate utility vehicles
  • Must hold a valid BC Drivers License
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to communicate clearly with management and staff
  • A professional and courteous outlook
  • To be physically fit, reliable, hardworking and committed to doing a great job

More information on the role:

  • Salary: $32-34 per hour
  • Seasonal Duration: 9-month position (April 1 to December 1)
  • Hours of Work: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • General Shift Timings: Early morning, starting between 5-7am until 1-3pm (based on day light)
  • Start Date: April 1, 2025
  • Job Environment: On-site only, outdoors
  • Ability to commute/relocate: Richmond, BC- reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
  • Application End Date: March 22, 2025

The Operations:

Our 6800-yard, par 72 A.V. Macan designed course is one of BCs premiere golf venues. Our championship level golf course is known for its tree lined fairways, well-positioned bunkers, and its signature raised, undulating greens. Our green and serene golf courses require year-round TLC and involve multi-level technicalities to keep the course season ready. Our Golf Course or Greens team weathers all types of conditions to maintain the expectation and satisfaction of our members and their love of golf. Our Golf Course team comprises of irrigation technicians, grounds keepers, gardeners, horticulturist, and assistant and head superintendents.
