Key Responsibilities:

  1. WordPress Website Development:

    • Develop and customize WordPress themes and plugins based on design and functionality requirements.
    • Build websites from scratch using WordPress, ensuring high performance, security, and responsiveness across all devices.
    • Implement page layouts, templates, and features according to the design teams specifications.
  2. Website Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

    • Perform regular website maintenance, updates, and backups.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve website issues (e.g., bugs, broken links, downtime) to ensure the smooth functioning of the website.
    • Update WordPress core, themes, and plugins to maintain website security and performance.
  3. Front-End Development:

    • Write clean, well-documented code using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript to create interactive and dynamic user interfaces.
    • Ensure website compatibility across multiple platforms (desktop, mobile, tablet) and browsers.
    • Collaborate with the design team to convert wireframes and design mockups into functional websites.
  4. Back-End Development:

    • Develop custom post types, taxonomies, and custom fields to enhance the functionality of WordPress websites.
    • Optimize database performance and ensure smooth integration between the front-end and back-end of the website.
    • Implement third-party APIs and tools as needed for website functionalities such as forms, analytics, or e-commerce.
  5. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Performance Optimization:

    • Optimize websites for performance (load times, speed) and ensure they are SEO-friendly.
    • Use tools such as Google PageSpeed Insights, GTMetrix, or Pingdom to monitor and improve site performance.
    • Implement SEO best practices including schema markup, keyword integration, and site structure optimization.
  6. E-commerce Development (if applicable):

    • Develop and maintain WordPress e-commerce sites using WooCommerce or other e-commerce plugins.
    • Set up product pages, checkout processes, payment gateways, and shipping methods.
    • Troubleshoot issues related to the e-commerce functionality and ensure smooth transactions.
  7. Security and Compliance:

    • Implement security best practices for WordPress websites (e.g., SSL certificates, secure logins, malware scans).
    • Monitor the website for vulnerabilities and ensure proper security measures are in place to prevent hacking and data breaches.
    • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR) when handling user data.
  8. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (designers, marketers, content creators) to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
    • Clearly communicate progress, timelines, and any issues to stakeholders.
    • Provide technical support and training to clients or team members on WordPress functionalities.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background:

    • Degree or diploma in Web Development, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields is preferred, though not always required if experienced.
  • Experience:

    • Proven work experience as a WordPress Developer (typically 1-3 years or more).
    • Experience in developing custom WordPress themes and plugins is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP (core languages for WordPress development).
    • Experience with MySQL databases and ability to write custom queries.
    • Strong knowledge of WordPress architecture, theme hierarchies, hooks, and filters.
