Position: Volunteer Communications Specialist

Location: Remote/Hybrid (Ireland)

Time Commitment: Part-time (flexible hours, approximately 3 hours per week)

Role Overview:

As a Volunteer Communications Specialist for BRIA, you will be responsible for developing effective communication strategies, managing and shaping internal and external communications, and ensuring that our message is conveyed to the Brazilian community in Ireland and other stakeholders. You will manage the organisation's communication channels and create compelling content that promotes BRIA’s initiatives, events, and resources. This role plays a vital part in strengthening BRIA’s presence and building relationships with our audience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Develop and produce engaging content for BRIA’s website, newsletters, and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), ensuring that messaging is clear and aligned with BRIA’s mission.

  • Brand Messaging: Shape and refine BRIA’s communication style and voice, ensuring consistency across all channels.

  • Internal and External Communication: Manage both internal communication within the organisation and external communication with the Brazilian community, partners, and sponsors.

  • Event Promotion: Assist in creating promotional materials and messaging for BRIA’s events, workshops, and webinars aimed at professional development and career integration.

  • Public Relations Support: Build relationships with media outlets, relevant influencers, and community organisations to raise awareness of BRIA’s work.

  • Newsletters: Plan, create, and distribute regular newsletters to keep the community informed about upcoming events, resources, and success stories.

  • Community Engagement: Foster engagement with the Brazilian community in Ireland by responding to inquiries, managing online conversations, and creating opportunities for two-way communication.

  • Reporting & Analytics: Track and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies by monitoring engagement metrics and making recommendations for improvements.

  • Partnership Support: Collaborate with BRIA’s team to identify opportunities for partnerships and help develop communication strategies to connect with new partners and sponsors.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field (volunteer experience welcome).

  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Photo and Video-editing software.

  • Strong writing and editing skills in both Portuguese and English.

  • Proficiency in managing social media platforms and creating engaging content.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.

  • Creative thinking with a keen understanding of how to engage diverse audiences.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks promptly.

  • Passion for helping the Brazilian community in Ireland and an understanding of the challenges they face.

  • Familiarity with the Brazilian community in Ireland and the Irish employment landscape is a plus.
