About the Client

Our client is a rapidly expanding, global mission-critical infrastructure platform specializing in next-generation, high-efficiency modular data center deployments. Renowned for their cutting-edge prefabricated solutions that accelerate traditional deployment timelines by up to 60%, they partner with hyperscalers and AI enterprise giants across the APAC region. Due to a massive pipeline of high-density modular data center builds, they are looking for a high-caliber Chief Mechanical Engineer to take complete technical ownership of their global thermal management and advanced cooling product lines.


Role Overview

The Chief Engineer (Mechanical) will act as the ultimate technical authority for complex liquid cooling, airflow containment, and thermodynamic efficiencies required to keep high-density AI compute operational. You will bridge the gap between initial pre-sales engineering, thermal simulation, and real-time factory fabrication. Rather than designing traditional brick-and-mortar HVAC building services, you will mastermind the productization and packaging of multi-megawatt cooling loops, containerized cooling blocks, and emergency thermal storage units built to handle next-generation workloads.

Because our client's primary manufacturing facilities, key component suppliers, and production teams are located in Mainland China, native or professional fluency in Mandarin is strictly required for this role.


Key Responsibilities
  • Thermal Architecture Design: Design, optimize, and validate multi-megawatt cooling systems and containerized cooling blocks engineered to support power-hungry AI and cloud computing workloads exceeding 14 kW to 24 kW+ per rack.
  • Advanced Efficiency Engineering: Integrate specialized sustainable cooling solutions, including water-side economization ("free cooling" heat rejection adapted for sub-tropical climates) and Thermal Energy Storage (TES) systems utilizing water stratification principles for emergency backup.
  • Cross-Trade & Transport Packaging: Partner closely with Electrical and BIM teams to physically package heavy cooling loops, Chilled Water (CHW) distribution networks, pumps, and Cooling Distribution Units (CDUs) within strict transportable shipping container and DfMA limits.
  • Factory Floor Simulation & Testing: Run direct thermal and pressure testing simulations with factory production engineers in China. Lead rigorous Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at the plant and oversee final structural Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) globally.
  • Vendor Alignment: Evaluate technical submissions from regional cooling equipment manufacturers, ensuring strict component compliance for chillers, CRAHs, and modern Direct-to-Chip or Immersion liquid cooling solutions.

Core Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Status: Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Registered Professional Engineer (R.P.E.) in Hong Kong is mandatory.
  • Experience: Minimum 8–12+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience, with at least 5 years explicitly focused on hyper-scale Data Center cooling infrastructure. Proven expertise in chilled water plants, close-control cooling, and advanced liquid cooling deployments is highly preferred.
  • Technical Software Stack: Elite mastery of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation software (e.g., 6SigmaET / Future Facilities or equivalent), AutoCAD, and navigating BIM ecosystems (Revit/Navisworks).
  • Language Proficiency: Professional fluency in Mandarin and English is mandatory (both spoken and written). You must be completely comfortable leading complex, technical engineering debates with factory floor teams in Mandarin.
