Planning Engineer (Civil)

 Job Description:

The position is for a Planning Engineer within a leading specialist contractor in Hong Kong, established for decades and recognized for expertise in post-tensioned structures, cable-stayed systems, foundations, ground engineering, retaining structures, and integrated geotechnical solutions for major infrastructure and civil projects.

This role, managed through 3C RGH (www.3crgh.com), a specialist recruitment firm providing tailored solutions for construction and engineering positions across Hong Kong and internationally, requires a professional with strong planning expertise to support specialized civil and structural initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive project schedules using MS Project and Primavera P6, encompassing baseline programmes, progress monitoring, critical path analysis, and recovery planning in response to delays.
  • Track project advancement against agreed timelines, identify risks or variances, and recommend mitigation strategies to maintain schedule adherence.
  • Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to optimize resource allocation, forecast needs, and facilitate informed decisions on work sequencing and priorities.
  • Produce regular progress reports, S-curves, and performance metrics for internal management and client submissions.
  • Support risk management processes by evaluating schedule implications, contributing to negotiations, and implementing necessary adjustments.
  • Engage in major civil and structural works, including foundations, ground engineering, retaining systems, and associated specialized construction elements, while exercising leadership in planning coordination, proactive issue resolution, and decisive action under demanding conditions.

Work Location and Hours The role is based at the head office in Wong Chuk Hang, with regular visits to various project sites as required. (Note: Depending on project allocation, duties may involve principal site-based work at locations such as the Northern District, with occasional head office support.)

Requirements

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in construction planning, with particular emphasis on civil or structural projects.
  • Proficiency in MS Project and Primavera P6.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken Chinese and English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, coordinate, negotiate effectively, and make sound decisions as required.
